The Washington state legislature is considering more changes to the Residential Landlord Tenant Act. Proposed changes include a requirement that the move in inspection report describe the condition and cleanliness of or existing damages to the premises, including, but not limited to:
- Walls, including wall paint and wallpaper;
- Countertops;
- Carpets and other flooring;
- Window coverings such as curtains, drapes, and blinds;
- Window screens;
- Furniture; and
- Appliances.
In addition, HB 2520 would require the written checklist or statement to indicate the age of all fixtures, equipment, and furnishings, the time since their installment or replacement, and their useful life. There is nothing that indicates what an landlord should do if this information is not available.
